Journal Reflections:
What is your relationship to your moon cycle and the new one you are co-creating?
Complete and expand: My Moon Cycle is _________
The Munay-Kai 13th Rite of The Womb
The Womb is not a place to store fear and pain.
The Womb is to create and give birth to life.
(This womb rite is gifted to women through ceremony and to be shared so all women can understand the power they hold within the centre of their bodies. The Munay-Ki are the Rites of the Shaman's Path of the Q'ero nation, the descendents of the lnka, the indigenous people of the holy mountains of the Andes in Peru.)
Create Space to Your Natural Flow
What does it truly mean to create space in your life?
For everyone it is going to be a unique dance. What does it look like for you?
We live in a society where pushing, aggression, and burning the candle at both ends is celebrated. The harder you work and the less sleep you get has been a gold standard if you want any abundance/success.
As women, how has that served us?
Infertility is higher than our parents' generation.
Stress levels are through the roof.
More women are experiencing adrenal fatigue.
Hysterectomies are performed at an alarming rate to combat debilitating pain experienced in the womb.
Overwhelmed by the paradigm of being a woman able to “do it all”
There are more but as you can see this has not served women at all. Yes we need to be diligent for things we desire but why do we continue to make it worth it when clearly our bodies are screaming:
P.lease
M.ake
S.pace
You body is ready to shift into a habit that your body already knows how to do. You are now in a prime space to REMEMBER.
The feminine body and energies naturally flow with the moon. The Divine Masculine draws their juice from the sun. I’d like to think that was the inspiration in the comic book tale of Superman. Women have many representations of where we draw our strength and wisdom from. However our story is not often told from the connection to the moon in mass social culture.
We are fortunately in a time where we are not waiting ……..
…… for the media to tell us. We are seeking out the truth for ourselves. The truth is that we have just begun to truly realize the power of the divine feminine body, wisdom and energy.
Harnessing the Moon Magic
According to Indigenous medicine, the womb is highly regarded. It is the place where the feminine cultivates her strength, natural emotions, moves from flow, and generates/regenerates her energy. The energy also is integrated with the Winter season. A time of rest.
The phases of the moon guide time to go internal and to be external. Becoming more aware of the energies of the moon allows the feminine energy to move more in balance and flow.

Start to track your energies according to the phases of the moon or from the start of your Moon cycle (menstruation). A Resource is the Cycles Journal
The most common….
…. in the phases that have the most energetic impact are the New Moon and Full Moon.
New Moon
This is the Dark Moon. In this phase the moon is not seen in the sky. There is no light on the moon. If you are not bleeding any more, tracking the New moon is a way to continue to connect to this time within your cycle.
Depending on the time of the year and positioning of the stars the New Moon will hold additional energetic frequencies. The main thread is that it holds: space to rest, recharge and renew. It also brings a reminder of things in life that need to be cleared or looked at.
Full Moon
The Full Moon is the phase where it is fully bright and in its fullness. The energy is highly charged with celebration, joy and light. It can also spotlight an area in your life that needs immediate attention.
The full moon is also connected to women who would naturally start their moon cycles. This is where the practice of The Red tent was born. Women would gather in The Red Tent and stay there for about 3-5 days. The women would share stories, sing, create, vision, dream, do rituals/ceremonies and rest.
Themes to integrate in doing ritual for New Moon:
Write in your journal what you need to clear
Proclaim your dreams, what are you working towards
Dance and embody the energy of the New Moon
Where do you need to exercise more boundaries?
Themes to integrate in doing rituals for Full Moon:
What are you celebrating?
Where are you creating more joy in your life?
How can you love yourself even more?
What is drawing your attention?
Make Love to your Moon Cycle
Your moon cycle has been called many names:
The curse
The Rag
Period
The Moon
Menstrual
The shark
The Flood
Girl Flu
Aunt Flo
Crimson wave
( And I would like to say that's it but unfortunately there is more)
Let’s create new language for our bleeding time:
Moon cycle
Moonflower (Daoist term)
Sacred
Divine space
Red rose
Liquid Gold
Sacred Dreamer (Temple Body Arts)
Sacred Womb cycle
Deep reclamation
Red and White Moon cycles
(Any other words that call to you to regard your cycle)
I will refer to this as the Moon cycle.
In matriarchal times this was very much respected in societies. It was not hidden or shamed. It was revered and honoured. As we have moved into patriarchy the cycle has been programmed into a signal that a young girl can make babies. It is to be hidden, not talked about. It is messy, unclean and shameful.
Thankfully now women are taking back the significance, power and magic of the Moon cycle. We are talking about it in plain sight. We are gathering and sharing stories similar to The Red Tent. Rituals and ceremonies are being reclaimed. Our young girls are being initiated into this next phase of their lives with more sensitivity and care.
There is also a deeper understanding of the rhythms of a woman’s body, hormones, energy, imbalances and fertility from more wisdom of the Moon cycle.
I am not going to get into the very physical and scientific side of the Moon cycle. The book I recommend is Women's Bodies and Women's Wisdom by Dr. Christiane Northrup M.D.
However I will touch on the energy and feminine flow of the body during each of the four phases. Understand if you are not bleeding your body will still energetically go through these phases.
Cyclical Phases
Bleeding-Menstruation-Winter
This is the time where the body craves space to REST. This is your time to SLOW-DOWN. Your energy is not at its peak. The reason why a lot of us experience debilitating PMS symptoms is that we don’t give ourselves time to REST.
Eating warm soups, nourishing herbal teas, foods that are mineral and vitamin rich especially in Iron. Women lose a lot of Iron when we bleed. Try to prioritize sleep at this time.
Your third eye and crown chakra is wide open to receive vivid dreams, deeper intuition and visions. Your psychic abilities are elevated in this time.
During this phase journaling all that comes to you is a great way to capture the visions and dreams.
Journal question: What are you ready to manifest in your life?
Pre-Ovulation-Spring
Your hormones Estrogen and Progesterone start to rise. Your energy will start to build up again.
Think of the freshness of Spring. You are recharged. You are ready to conquer projects.
Your body can handle more intensive exercise.
Your body will crave more fresh raw fruits and vegetables. There is a spring in your step. This is a great time to create, make decisions and take more action.
Your solar plexus and throat will be more active here as you are feeling into your expressive power.
Journal Question: What do I need to take action on?
Cyclical Phases
Ovulation-Summer
This is when your estrogen levels are super high. Your body is in its peak fullness. Everything is super juicy here. Your energy is high. Your creative juices are on fire.
This is the time to be visible, social and making connections. Your energy is very vibrant and is a magnet. The fullness is present so you are also feeling very sexy and sensual.
Whether you are planning to have a baby or not, this is your time. If you are paying close attention to your cervical fluid when it is clear that means your body is ovulating and you have a 24 hour window to conceive. If you are not planning to have a child just yet avoid being intimate with your beloved at this time.
Journal question: What are you creating? What inspires you? Where do you feel the most confident?
Pre-Menstruation-Autumn
This is when your estrogen levels start to decline and testosterone levels rise. Your body is starting to go internal. The desire to be social starts to lower.
This is a good time to wrap up tasks before you go into the bleeding phase and prepare to rest.
In this phase there is residual energy from your ovulation phase so there will be bursts of energy. Your sensuality gets a little more wild and unrefined.
As you start to go more internal experiences may be brought to your attention. This is an opportunity to resolve them before your body sheds for the next cycle.
Journal question: What do I need to release/heal?
Liquid Gold
Your Blood that is released from your body is sacred.
It is full of minerals and stem cells that provide so much healing. It is also an energetic portal that connects the feminine body to the earth. As a ritual it is a beautiful practice to collect your blood and give it back to the earth.
Your moon blood is also a barometer of what is going on in your womb.
Yes you need to pay attention to your blood when your bleeding time starts.
Things to watch out for:
How long are you bleeding?
What is the colour of your blood? Is it dark brown, light brown, clumps, bright red or dark red?
What is the Flow? Is it heavy, medium or light?
Are you in discomfort before, during or after you bleed?
Are you on birth control? This will affect your cycle
A healthy moon cycle will last from 3-5 days. The colour of your blood is bright red. There are no clumps. There is little to no discomfort.
Blood is dark brown at the start means that is old blood from the last bleeding phase that did not get released.
If you are not having a healthy cycle, that is your body sending you a message that there is an imbalance. Start tuning in at the energetics, emotional processing (stress), and chakra points in your womb.
Tune into where you are off balance. If needed consult your family doctor that you trust, a womb health or holistic practitioner to get the support you need.
Natural resources:
There are many natural resources. The invitation is to feel into the ones that most resonate with you. Start to cultivate a deeper relationship with them. They may be from your own cultural lineage or they may be things you have learn along the way.
Be very mindful and respectful with any naturally sourced plant medicine.
Yoni Steaming- sitting under a bowl of steaming herbs. The steam from the herbs gently loosen stagnant blood or also address imbalances in the womb

Earth Devotional Ritual Practices:
Womb Breath/Dialogue - Sit anywhere comfortable cradle your womb space with your hands. Allow your muscles to drop. Breathe in contract your belly button to your spine. Breathe out relax your womb into your hands. Continue this practice for 5 rounds (Inhale/Exhale thats one round). Visualize the ocean as you breathe. Feel the power of the sacred waters hydrating, nourishing, clearing, and cleansing your womb space.
After the 5 rounds continue your attention in your space and listen in stillness. You ask the question what is the message I need to know right now OR Ask any question that is alive and present for you in the moment. Trust in the words, pictures, songs, people, memories that come through. It will answer your question. If you do not receive anything right way trust that you will in time.
ReConnect to the Earth:
You can choose to do this in many ways such as Invite more plants into your home. Drink more water. Eat more nourishment from the earth (fruits, vegetables, medicinal plants/herbs). Walk barefoot on the ground. Take a walk at a park or in the mountains. Cultivate a garden.
Move your body!
Start to cultivate a daily movement practice. How you move is up to you. Choose embodiment activities you love to do and enjoy!
